Data scientist in Lisbon; previously ERP consultant and mining engineer. The work history is here because the earlier jobs explain the later ones.
I started as a mining engineer in the Philippines, writing production reports for an underground copper-gold mine. From there I moved to implementing ERP systems, co-founded a consultancy in Australia that did the same, and then built websites on my own. The part of each job I kept returning to was the data.
I moved to Lisbon for a master's in data science at NOVA IMS and wrote a thesis on triaging bug reports with self-organising maps. I stayed on to teach the practical classes for Data Mining for four years, and spent three of them on a PhD proposal about using LLM agents to evaluate automatically generated taxonomies. I left in 2026, after the proposal stage, to work in industry full-time. The course materials are still public.
Today I work as a data scientist at DareData: they bring the projects, and I build the data products end to end as part of their team. I write the documentation as I go and review code in detail, because a data product is only as useful as the next person's ability to change it.
